Kid in the proverbial Candy Store

Tuesday was especially depressing, I don't have classes and my coworkers avoid me (all science nerds still scared of girls). So mostly I don't talk to anyone and I read enough textbooks to make one dizzy and incomprehensible. I wanted to do something fun and out of the ordinary, I remembered the Gift Card to Barnes and Noble in my pocket that I got for my birthday from my sister-in-law and brother. Eternally grateful, I set off after work.

I love books, I'm always looking for used classics from Plato to Sinclair Lewis. I don't always read books right away, but since my all night stint with "Twilight" the other night, I think I'm ready to jump back in to literature.

I wandered around the store for 20 minutes, I found tons of books that I love, all the books I ever read in High School were displayed on one table. Unfortunately I already own most of those. I went to the Barnes and Noble brand classic books, they're usually cheaper but contain the same words, so I'm happy. I saw one that I wanted and didn't have yet, but nothing else really grabbed my fancy. I thought about "Harpo Speaks" the autobiography of Harpo Marx, which I loved but haven't been able to find anywhere. When I went to ask someone to look it up, I glanced over and saw "A Girl Named Zippy," the book Jan raved about. I also bought "Utopia" by Sir Thomas More, and can't wait to start that, especially considering I just read "Animal Farm." It will be interesting to see any parallels.

Toni this reminds me of our time spent in the bookstore in Jackson Hole. Every time I go up, I go visit and have to work very hard to keep myself from buying every book in the store. I just see everything and my eyes go really wide and my breathing gets raspy. It's just a good feeling...

Toni!!! Toni!!! I love A Girl Named Zippy. Didn't I ever tell you that? It's in my top 10 of favorite books. I'm so excited. Be sure to get a hold of me when you finish and tell me what you think.

yay! I'm so glad you like it, I like it so far as well, the chapter about the face cards, where some are boys and some are girls, but that doesn't make them necessarily worth knowing

my favorite part was when her mom tested her for ESP. Call me when you get there

Yea! I'm glad the card came into use. I have Moon Beam...or whatever thats called...anyways... and I am bringing it up with us this weekend. However, given Ill probably be propped in a chair while everyone is obstacle coursing I might finish twilight and start that one. I look forward to reading them both. Maybe I can borrow this one when you are done..if thats ok...

The face cards chapter is good, but I really love the one about the carrots. That makes me laugh every time.

I've also read 'A Girl Named Zippy' funny outlook on life! I recently read 'The Power of One' by Bruce Courtenay, probably one of the best books I've read. I'd highly recomment it!
