When Ben goes grocery shopping he sticks close to the list (except for treats) meaning that we plan 4-5 meals and he buys only the ingredients for those meals. Thus there is little room for improvisation, snacking, lunch or last-second meals without another trip to the store. My question for you is, what are the top 5 items that you almost always buy/have for the days without a plan?
(let's think healthy, I know dad keeps a box of ding dongs in the freezer but...actually I don't know where I'm going with that... I want a ding dong.)

Funny. I just read a facebook update about twinkies. Someone posted pictures of the 37 ingredients in a twinkie. A friend commented that the ingredients didn't bother her so much, as much as watching a teacher tack a twinkie to a wall at the beginning of the school year, and at the end the twinkie was still there, unchanged.
I couldn't help but wonder if the same would happen to a ding-dong. I love ding-dongs. Screw perservatives!
Meals we eat when I don't have a plan:
1. Cereal
2. Something chocolate (dark chocolate is healthy-sorta) Just snack on it all day, and feel sick later.
3. Tuna
4. Tomatoes
5. Pasta
tortillas.
avocados.
apples.
cheese.
yogurt.
green peppers
red onions
blueberries
bananas
bread
goldfish
milk
I always have penne & shell pasta on hand, and a favorite stand-by is shell pasta with cream of chicken (I prefer the dry soup packets, my husband prefers from a can). I use the penne to throw together a dish with whatever veggies are on hand (onions, zucchini, peppers are our faves), sausage or chicken if available, and a few tablespoons of alfredo sauce. A favorite snack is to buy a big tub of cocktail peanuts and a big back of dark chocolate m&ms and make a "trail mix" without nasty raisins. :) I put it in little snack size baggies so I can just grab one when I want a sweet & salty treat.
Now I'm really hungry!
cabbage
carrots
rice
potatoes
onions
oh kimber.
How do you prepare your potatoes Kimber? What are Rex's favorite recipes for veggies?
Ding Dongs
Cup Cakes
Twinkies
cans of Dr. Pepper
Sorry I can only think of 4.
