Recipes That Don't Work - helpful hints

We haven't had an installment of RTDW in a while (because I have been sticking to old favorites, or closely supervised) so here's a helpful hint from my kitchen.

Recipes That Don't Work
If you want to ruin a recipe a simple trick I use is to start late, thus forcing you to rush through the mixing section in order to get to the baking on time.
If the recipe says to mix for 10 minutes, do it for 2.
If you are supposed to knead for 6-8 minutes, 3-4 will do.
With this simple time saving tip, you are sure to ruin any and all recipes you run into.

If you have any tips that you'd like to share that could ruin most recipes - please share with us!

Unhappy baking to you this holiday season!

I'm always a big fan of forgetting really important ingredients. Like baking soda or salt. When forgetting ingredients, make sure to always forget the ones that the recipe will totally fail without.

Love these. I always have issues if I double or half the recipe...or even worse, 1/3 the recipe. Talk about recipe for disaster!

This is SO true! I have a major problem thinking I can "beat the clock." But I can't complain because your Muddy Buddies post is among the best blog literature out there.

Start a recipe before checking to be sure you have all the ingredients. Then when you've discovered you are missing, say eggs, don't trust the internet when it says you can use corn starch instead.

When using minced garlic, don't read the equivalency to fresh garlic on the jar. Just guess that a tsp. is the same as a clove. In this way, you can DOUBLE your garlic in any recipe. Especially disasterous when it calls for 6 cloves. (and you do 12)
