A spaceship basket steamer, definitely. I thought it was unnecessary until I moved into a house that has one and I use it oft...en.

rice steamers work too, if you have one of those.

What an excellent question. Unfortunately, I have no answer for you, but I can give you an answer on the best way to make chocolate chip cookies. :) Actually, I want to know the best way to steam veggies too.

I had some steamed plantains last night for dinner. They weren't very delicious, but I was really hungry. Somehow, they make steamed cassavva. I didn't know you could steam a root. It was delicious.

Is that a face-o-veggies?

I just put veggies in a pot with like 1/2 inch of water and let it boil for awhile. It gets the steam-job done.

I put frozen peas in a bowl, add a few seconds of water from the tap, put a saucer over the top and microwave for a minute. Then, stir and put in again for 30 seconds. Add butter and salt to taste (sometimes just salt).

Those veggie steamer bags like Ziploc Zip n Steam work great. I've been using those for about 6 months now, and I won't go back to doing it on the stove. I get perfect broccoli every time.
